【Tips】 Old stockings recycled

August 28, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Do your shoes smell? Do your shoes lose their “shape” during storage? If so, try the following… I have and it worked…

When I was working as a hotel receptionist, one of my monthly compulsory expenses was getting new pairs of stockings… There’s always one reason or another for the need of change and thus another extra pair… But what to do with the “throw-aways”… Its such a waste… Till I discovered this…

Tea leaves absorb smell and by putting them into old stockings, you can make them into a ball and stuff it into your shoes to absorb smell and maintain shoes “shape”… and these can be reused over and over again…

Points to note:
You don’t have to use expensive tea leaves or fresh ones… I used tea leaves from expired tea bags that I couldn’t finished drinking and they have worked just fine…

If you don’t have stockings, you could use those tiny white bags used in cooking to separate ingridents from soup in chinese cookings…

【Tips】Temporary measures to runs in stockings

August 28, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I read about this in an article but didn’t have the chance to try ‘coz I’m lucky enough to work in a place where there’s no need for me to wear stockings…

If you are starting to have a run in your stockings, the best thing’s of ‘coz to change a new pair but if you ar unfortunate enough to have none on hand, you can try apply some clear nail polish to the run and hopefully this would be able to last you till the end of the day….

Bear this in mind and hopefully this could be of use to you some day…

Fire in Microwave…

August 15, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I did a stupid thing yesterday…

I bought a roasted chicken packed in a paper bag but got home a little late and chicken slightly cold, thus without thinking put the whole thing into the microwave to reheat while unpacking other stuff into the fridge… Suddenly, I started seeing sparkles inside the microwave and upon taking a closer look, saw the paper bag on fire… Immediately, I switched off the microwave, took out the plate with the chicken and bag and luckily for me, it was a small fire that diminished very quickly once it’s out of the enclosed area… Out of curiousity, I examined the bag and realized that I’ve overlooked the fact that its that kind of paper bag with “metal” inside to keep your food warm but actually shouldn’t be put into the microwave at all…

A lesson learned and would be more careful in the future while dealing with other appliances…

Flood, Fire & Washing Machine

August 7, 2007 · Leave a Comment

On my way to work this morning… I heard the DJs over the radio, enthusiastically discussing about flood, explosion and washing machine… In the back of my (still sleepy) mind, I thought to myself: “What on earth had they to do with each other??? Flood and washing machine. Yes. Explosion and washing machine. Yes. But flood, explosion and washing machine… Am I too sleepy or what…”

So out of curiosity, I concentrated on their conversation and finally realized that they were commenting on a household disaster that happened in Sheungshui (Hong Kong) this morning…

It’s a very simple, common, everyday story of a guy forgetting to empty his pockets before doing his washing…. It’s something that you and I “did” every once in a while but unfortunately for this unlucky guy, the two coins that he left in his pockets, slipped out of his pants and somehow got stuck in the draining pipe of the washing machine… If you had been observant, you would have noticed that washing machine usually goes into a cycle of high spin, then low spin and back high again… High spin for spinning the water off the clothes and slow spin to wash… But with the coins stuck, the machine went high and high and high and eventually exploded causing both fire and flooding to occur in the apartment.

Honestly, I do occasionally forget to empty my pockets but compared to him, I was pretty lucky to have just either lose that “thing” that I forget to empty or having bits and pieces of paper fibers everywhere in the washing… Never had it occurred to me that forgetting to empty the pockets of the washing could have such hugh consequences… So dear friends, do learn the lesson and remember to empty your pockets before doing your washing…

Adsense + Blog

July 30, 2007 · Leave a Comment

再加上我最近找到一個網站 Multiply.com .

If you were told that you are able to earn $$$ via Adsense + Blog, would you believe or would you have doubts…

I attended 2 seminars by eOneNet at the beginning of this year and that’s where I first heard of earning via Adsense in Blogs… Though everything sounded reasonably realistic, I still have my doubts and thus decided to wait and see… In the meantime, I started gathering information about Blog and Adsense but still these information weren’t able to get me started on blogging… Till i came across this book 『Blog中百萬年新』… Its a very simple, practical and no-nonsense book filled with step by step instructions and most importantly, the writers URL were listed for readers to refer to… I surfed the sites and suddenly everything feels real… The prospect of earning via Adsense and Blog no longer seems so far-away… Then I chance upon a site Multiply.com… This is a site that provides free blogging service, photo and video uploading services and etc to members and its source of income seems to be Adsense mainly… What surprises me most is that there’s no obvious limit on the number of photos or videos that could be uploaded per member… This makes me believe that they should be having quite a considerable income from Adsense to be able to provide such services…

【Ent】Vertical Limits – afterthoughts/

May 8, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Have never watched vertical limits before… A friend lent it to me once but I wasn’t interested… A few days ago, while I was bored and switching channels hoping to find something interesting, I was caught by the scene where “3 of them were hanging off the cliff and dad was shouting at son to cut the rope and sister shouting at son not to, son cut and dad died.” I was enchanted and ended up finishing the whole movie…

For days, I kept asking myself the same questions: “what would I do if I were the son? Would I cut the rope to save my sis and let my dad die or would I rather take the risk like sis and possibly dying together?” In the end, my conclusion is that it really depends on who’s below and on top of me… Who’s more important to me, the one on top or the one at the bottom… For example, if dad’s not at the bottom but in other positions, I believe he would not cut the rope no matter who’s at the bottom, son or daughter… If you were the one in the center, what would you do? Cut or not?

Firefighters learn from burglars!

May 8, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Recently saw an interesting news on TV. In Taiwan (if I didn’t remember wrongly), firefighters tried to break into a unit to complete a mission but weren’t able to do it quite as fast as they wanted to. Towards the end of the news, one firefighter mentioned that actually burglars were able to break-in easier and faster than them, thus they should probably master break-in skills from them in order to better serve the community…

Ain’t this interesting? Firefighters learning from burglars??? I believe burglars would never imagine that one day firefighters would want to learn from them… If I were them, I would be so proud of myself… But what a shame to the firefighters or even the government, to master skills from burglars in order to better serve the community… Hahaha! Ridiculous!

In Chinese, there’s a saying: “There’s use for each and every person born!” Meaning that every person in this world is born with a purpose in life and not useless… I guess this saying most suitable in this case… What about you? Tell me your views!

May 4, 2007 · Leave a Comment
